Xiaomi’s “Note” Series have always been popular in India. Xiaomi provides Best Value for money Smartphones With its Note Series. Xiaomi Launched its Redmi Note 5 Series in February 2018. The Brand claims that the Redmi Note 5 Series has become the fastest-selling phone series in India to cross the Five Million mark, Which is a Huge Number. Talking about Redmi Note 5 Pro, It was one of the first smartphones to launch with Dual-cameras in Sub Rs.15,000 segment. I bought Redmi Note 5 Pro in the month of August 2018 so it’s been a 2 Years of using this Device. So, Here’s Review of Redmi Note 5 Pro from my side.

Redmi Note 5 Pro Review: Design & Display 

Talking about Design of the Redmi Note 5 Pro, The Device comes with Metal Construction and Big Bezels at the Top and Bottom. (Yes, We used to get Metal Designs in 2018, which is now replaced by the Glass or Plastic). With Huge Battery and Metal Structure Device still weighs Just 181gm. I personally didn’t have any issues regarding its Build the Usage of 2 Years. The Device comes with Dual-camera set-up at the Rear and Front camera on the front, which houses in Bezel.

Coming to Display, The Redmi Note 5 Pro features a 5.99-inch FullHD+ IPS Display with 2160×1080 resolution. It’s an 18:9 Display and comes with 84% NTSC Color gamut. Talking about my Experience, The Display is having issues such as Low Brightness which means Display is not Bright enough to Use Outdoors. Otherwise, The Display is Decent.

Redmi Note 5 Pro Review: Hardware & Software

Talking about Hardware, Redmi Note 5 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Soc. The Redmi Note 5 Pro was the First Device to launch with this chipset. The Device is coupled with up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of eMMC 5.1 Storage. Coming to Performance, The Chipset is not meant for Hardcore Gaming, You can do Casual Gaming. I have 4GB Variant and I had no issues in Day to day Usage. and Yes most Important thing, Which is what about PUBG? Yes, You can play PUBG In Lower settings and its playable.

Coming to Software, The Redmi Note 5 Pro was running on MIUI 9 based on Android 7 at the time of its launch. The Device as of now runs on MIUI 11 based on Android 9. I didn’t get any Security Update in last 4-5 Months. But yeah, it’s great that Xiaomi has Provided the two major Android Updates and two Software Updates. The Device is also expected to get MIUI 12, But We can’t say anything about it Right now.

Talking about Optics, The Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with Dual-camera set-up at the Rear, Which Includes 12MP(f/2.2) Primary Sensor and 5MP(f/2.0) Depth Sensor. On the Front, The Device comes with 20MP(f/2.2) Selfie-shooter. Talking about my Experience, There is no denying to the fact that Xiaomi has ruined the Camera Experience with its Software Updates in Past But Right now it has Pretty stable Camera Performance. It can Click some Good Looking Photos with Decent amount of Details. and the same things applied for the front camera too. Redmi Note 5 Pro Review: Battery & Connectivity

Under the Hood, The Redmi Note 5 Pro is powered by massive 4,000mAh Battery (Yes, it was massive capacity as per 2018 Standards). The Device comes with the support of QC2.0. To be honest, I’ve noticed a Battery draining issue in recent times, but I think it is obvious after using the Device for 2 Years. But it can last you up to 4-5 hours on Single Charge with moderate usage.

Talking about Connectivity, The Device comes with Micro USB Port, 3.5mm Headphone Jack, Hybrid Sim-slot and Bluetooth 5.0. The issue I had is the Headphone jack of my device has stopped working after around 20 Months of Usage.

Redmi Note 5 Pro Review: Price

Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched at the Price tag of Rs.13,999 for 4GB Variant and Rs.16,999 for 6GB Variant. Right Now, The Device is available at Rs.8,799 for 4GB Variant and Rs.9,699 for 6GB Variant.

Well, the answer depends on how do you use your Smartphone. This Smartphone is not for gamers and Hardcore users. It’s Decent choice if you’re Considering this Device for Moderate Usage and You Don’t care about these Big Bezels and Old Looks of the Smartphone.
